Communication
I have learned to communicate through the world of social media. I have learned about how photography and videography can communicate a story to the world. With the world of social media, businesses can now speak directly to their audiences, brands can have a connection with the media, and will boost a companies leads and sales. Communication within a business will bring a positive atmosphere amongst the business. A positive atmosphere is good for the production of the business.
Critical Problem Solving
This past semester, I interned for a start-up company in the College Station area. With the company being brand new, there were a bunch of occurrences where critical problem solving came to the table. I had to use my knowledge, facts, and data to effectively solve problems within the business. I had to develop well thought out solutions to keep the business going. Critical problem-solving in a business gives the ability to add value to the overall plan which will bring solutions to the problems.

Collaboration
This past semester, I had a lot of group projects in many of my classes that required much collaboration. As a group, we had to work together to achieve the defined goal. The strategy that I would use was to assign roles to different team members so that the job was done effectively and efficiently. Collaboration in a business is people working together to achieve a defined goal. Collaboration can be through face to face, email, or facetime. When my group could not meet in person due to conflicting schedules, our team would facetime and collaborate that way.

Culture
This past semester, I interned for a start-up company in the College Station area. With this internship brought a culture shock. I was working with a lot of people from different cultures. A lot of people had different norms and values than me. With the different cultures brought different languages, accents, and behaviors. It was important for me as a co-worker to come accustomed to the individual's culture so I could work with them efficiently and not offend anyone. Culture is a key component in the business world and can influence the strategic direction of the business.

Competencies
Competencies in business are defined as the abilities the company has to set them apart from competitors and will contribute to long term success. The company I interned for this past semester focused on the quality, customer service, value, innovation, and marketing of the business. What I learned was that in this day in age, marketing is a key component to businesses if, they want to stand out to their competitors. From advertising to social media, successful marketing can make or break a company.
